  •  1 year term

  • Chair meetings of the board and executive committee.

  • Appoint all committee chairs who will serve on committees.

  • Prepare the agenda for board meetings.

  • Work with the staff to recruit board members and other needed volunteers.

  • Conduct new board member orientations.

  • Periodically consult with board members on their roles helping them assess their performance

  • Sign contracts or other official instruments, except when the signing and execution thereof have been expressly delegated by the Board to some other Officer or agent of the Foundation.

  • Attend board meetings.

  • Serve on the executive committee.

  • Carry out special assignments as requested by the board chair.

  • Understand the responsibilities of the board chair and be able to perform these duties in the President’s absence.

  • Succeed to the Office of President in the event of a vacancy in that Office.

  • Succeed to the Office of President at the end of the President’s regular term.

Joanne Crouch
  • 2 year term

  • Keep the minutes of meetings of the members and the Board.

  • Serve as custodian of the corporate records of the Foundation.

  • Serve as the custodian of all Policies and Procedures and provide “Cloud” access

  • Keep record of the post office address and class of each Board member and post office address of each Director.

  • Sign with the President, or other officer authorized by the President, contracts or other official instruments.

  • Attend to all correspondence and report all correspondence to the Board in a timely manner.

  • 2 year term

  • Have charge and custody of, and be responsible for, all funds and securities of the Foundation, and deposit all such funds in the name of the Foundation in such banks, trust companies or other depositories as shall be selected by the Board.

  • Receive, and give receipt for, monies due and payable to the Foundation from any source whatsoever.

  • Disburse, or cause to be disbursed, the funds of the Foundation as may be directed by the Board, taking proper vouchers for such disbursements.

  • Keep and maintain adequate and correct accounts of the Foundation properties and business transactions, including accounts of its assets, liabilities, receipts, disbursements, gains and losses.

  • Render to the Board, on a monthly basis, an account of any or all of his or her transactions as Treasurer and of the financial condition of the Foundation.

  • Prepare, or assist in preparing, the financial statements to be included in the annual, or any other required reports.

  • Actively participate in all board activities.

  • Attend in person monthly board meetings.

  • Review agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings.

  • Serve on a Standing Committee and periodically take on special assignments.

  • Suggest nominees to the board who can make significant contributions to the work of the board and to the organization.

The Nominating Committee is responsible for carrying out the necessary nomination and election process to fill open Board positions.

The Audit Committee is responsible for examining the Treasurer's accounts and submitting a written report at the annual membership meeting and when requested by the Board.

The Finance Committee is responsible for budget development, the annual financial report to the Board, and any other financial reports requested by the Board.


2020 Plant Sale

This Committee plans and executes the annual plant sale, the Foundation's primary fundraiser.  The Salvage Team is crucial to the success of the sale.

The Communications Committee is responsible for the production and distribution of  Foundation  communications on the website, in Shout Out Newsletters, emails, and in newspapers, magazines and on-line calendars .

These committees plan and schedule Seminars and Tours/Field Trips.  Master Gardeners earn Continuing Education Credits at most events.

The Foundation sells gloves, Spirit Wear and other merchandise such as row cover, hoops and garden art. This team will have items available for sale at seminars, the plant sale and other special events.

     WSU Horticulture Educator

The WSU Extension Horticulture Educator attends Board meetings to provide direction about MG activities and continue to provide the level of communication the Board and WSU Extension have come to appreciate.
